Flag
  1. Decide if this is a small cooperative group activity to be done at each computer station, while using the big screen for directions, or if it is a whole class project to be done entirely on the big screen.
  2. Open a new Power Point (PP) and title the first slide that pops up with your country's or state's name.
  3. Make a new slide by clicking on "Insert" and then "New Slide" or by holding down the Ctrl button and hitting the M button.
  4. This is where we will put our flag facts. Use net Trekker and click on images to search for an image of your flag. You can even select a flag that is waving. Or, you can go to this website for country flags or this website for state flags. Let your studnet search for a flag in net Trekker if you can, it will improve their searching skills, but the Flags of the World website is the best one that I found.
  5. Right click on your flag and select copy.
  6. Go to your PP and right click on your 1st slide and select paste.
  7. Resize the flag by clicking the edges of the flag to make it fit properly.
  8. On the Flag Facts slide you can type facts from your website that are important to its history.
  9. Make a new slide (Ctrl + M) and title it "Bibliography."
  10. Copy the flag website that you used and paste it onto one of the bullets. This is how we will keep track of our sources. This is a great habit to get kids to do when researching on the internet.
  11. Don't worry about foofy backgrounds and slide designs until later. Always encourage kids to do content first and foofy stuff later.
